Elgas Signs Wesley, Hill to 2024-25 Recruiting Class

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State men's basketball head coach Jimmy Elgas and his staff have signed Jameel Wesley from Little Rock, Ark. (Little Rock Christian Academy) and Rondae Hill from Shreveport, La., as part of their 2024-25 recruiting class.

"We feel like we have signed two of the best high school perimeter players in this part of the country," Elgas said. "Both [Jameel and Rondae] are tremendously tough and athletic. They each come from winning programs and tough-minded, intelligent coaches, which is something we certainly look for in the recruiting process."

Wesley is averaging 15 points per game and is shooting 41.2 percent from three-point range during his senior season at Little Rock Christian and is ranked as the No. 3 point guard in the 2024 class according to Prep Hoops Arkansas. In the midst of his final high school campaign, Wesley recorded 33 points, seven assists and four rebounds in an 89-81 overtime win on the road at Cabot.

A 2023 State Champion as a junior, Wesley was named All-Conference and received First Team All-Under Armour Circuit recognition. The Little Rock, Ark., native formerly played with the Arkansas Hawks 3SSB and Team Griffin EYBL out of Oklahoma City the last couple summers during his high school career.

"Jameel has close roots to our program as his father was a tremendous player and won championships during his tenure here," Elgas said. "Having already won an Arkansas state championship last season, [Jameel] has a tremendous opportunity to win his second championship next month."

Wesley and Little Rock Christian are 18-7 this season, including a 4A Region 5-best 11-1 conference record. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Warriors are currently ranked as the No. 3 team in 4A.

Hill, a 5-11 guard from Calvary Baptist Academy, will make his way to Arkadelphia with District 1-2A MVP and First Team honors under his belt. The Shreveport, La., native was also named Shreveport Bossier Journal First Team All-Metro, First Team All-Northwest Louisiana and First Team All-State for LSWA 2A.

"Rondae is one of the best guards in the state of Louisiana and has a tremendous support system at home," Elgas said. "He is a winner in every sense of the word. We are excited about his competitive spirit and leadership being added to our program. His team will be one of the favorites to win the Louisiana State Championship next month."

After posting a 28-9 record last year, Calvary Baptist is currently 22-8 and a 2A District 1-best 6-0 in district play. Hill is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game, with this being Hill's third consecutive year to average over 5.5 assists.
