GENEVA, Ohio - Lamar Taylor and the men's 200 medley relay set new school records while Kiara Pozvai and Jack Armstrong claimed individual Top-3 finishes on day two of the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships.

After the first full day, the Red Wave men are in 10th with 49 points while the women are in 17th with 16 points.

The morning started off with a bang for Henderson St. as the men did not wait long to re-write the record book. In the first individual event of the week, Taylor set a new HSU record in the prelims of the 50 free with a time of 19.03 for the top overall seed heading into the evening's Finals.

Armstrong (19.48) and Pozvai (22.64) sat second after prelims. Armstrong would stay true to his seeding, finishing as the National Runner-Up in the 50 free for the second straight year with a time of 19.33 for 17 points. Taylor was issued a disqualification after suffering an injury at the beginning of the race.

Prior to Armstrong taking the blocks, Pozvai completed her first of four individual events this week with a All-American-worthy third-place swim after touching the wall at 22.55 for 16 points. 

To finish off the night, Taylor returned from a brief injury scare with Armstrong, Jase Pinckney and Patryk Dabrowski as the quartet placed fourth in the 200 medley relay after being seeded eighth coming into the meet. The Top-4 finish brought with it a new school record of 1:25.60, shattering the old record by more than a whole second.



Henderson State will return to the pool tomorrow for day three of the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships with Pinckney and Armstrong swimming the 100-yard butterfly, followed by Pozvai in the 200 free to round out the individual events.
