MBB GAME NOTES AT ARKANSAS MONTICELLO: JANUARY 4, 2025
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies will look to remain undefeated on the road in conference when they travel to Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday.
Following victories at Southeastern, East Central, and Arkansas Tech to open the season, Henderson aims to extend its road record to a league-best 4-0 in GAC play.
In the last outing before the break, the Reddies scored 79 points versus Southern Arkansas. HSU held the Muleriders to just 33.9 percent shooting from the field while forcing the Muleriders to turn the ball over 14 times.
The Reddies are 3-0 on the road in conference play, averaging 72 points per game while holding opponents to just 63 points per game. On the road in conference play, Henderson State is outrebounding its opponents and averaging seven steals per game.
This season, the Reddies are outscoring opponents by 7.4 points per game, with nine players averaging six or more points per game. Star freshman point guard
Rondae Hill has filled an important role since entering the starting lineup, averaging 8.8 points per game while shooting 36.8 percent from deep.
Matthew Mayes continued his impressive play this season with 18 points, nine rebounds, and five stocks (steals+blocks) versus SAU. Mayes ranks top 10 in the country in steals with 2.9 steals per game and is one of the top players in the nation in stocks per game.
The Boll Weevils enter the matchup versus the Reddies with records of 3-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Boll Weevils are led by 12.7 points per game from Seth Grandberry and six rebounds per game from Jamir Turner.
The Arkansas-Monticello defense is holding opponents to just 60.2 points per game but are averaging just 56.6 ppg offensively. The Boll Weevils defense ranks fourth in the country in scoring defense but second to last in the country in scoring offense.
In their last outing before the break, the Boll Weevils fell to Arkansas Tech 56-33 in Russellville. Arkansas-Monticello's leading scorer scored just 10 points, while the team shot 28.6 percent from the field and connected on just two of their 16 three-point attempts.
Entering his fourth season as head coach for UAM, Chad Tapp has led his squad to a 37-58 record. Last season, Tapp led his team to an 11-11 record in conference play, which was good enough for the fifth seed in the GAC Tournament. Tapp spent eight years leading Lyon College's men's basketball program. While with the Scots,he was named American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year twice.

Nehikhare Igiehon: Igiehon has continued his dominance, leading the team in rebounds and blocks while shooting 57.9 percent from the field.
