Men's Golf Wins Seventh Straight Battle for the Belt

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Henderson State used a final round team score of 9-under par to win the Battle for the Belt Tuesday at Hot Springs Country Club. This marks the seventh consecutive win for the Reddies in the event, dating back to 2018.

Jacob Knowlton fired his second 4-under par round of the tournament, turning in another 68 in the third round. The senior carded five birdies on the day and finished in fourth place individually.

Colin Purifoy had his best round of the season, firing a 5-under par round of 67. Purifoy made six birdies on the back nine, coming in in 5-under 31. The Hope, Arkansas native moved up 20 places on the leaderboard to finish in ninth place.

Cooper Williams went under par for the second consecutive round. Williams turned in a 1-under 71 to finish the three-round event at even par. The senior carded four birdies to counterbalance three bogeys on the day.

Brody Horton and Alex Cuadrado finished the scorecard for the Reddies with scores of 73 and 74, respectively. Horton overcame a double bogey on the par-four 14th hole with three birdies earlier in the day. Cuadrado birdied his third and 15th holes of the day to balance out earlier bogeys.

Henderson's "B" team finished eighth in the 13-team field. Their scoring was marked by Drew Warmbrod, who shot 1-over par in Tuesday's round to finish the tournament at 3-under par. Everson Adams holed out his second shot on the par-four 12th hole to highlight his round of 74.

Reddie Golf will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday in Edmond, Oklahoma, for the Skip Wagnon Invitational. Kickingbird Golf Course will host the three-round event.
