West, Whybrew Earn GAC Player of the Week Honors

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Junior forward Jabari West of Henderson State University has been named the Great American Conference (GAC) Offensive Player of the Week, and junior forward Tyson Whybrew has earned GAC co-Defensive Player of the Week honors following outstanding performances in the Reddies' 66–64 victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Jan. 3.

West led Henderson State with a season-high 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting, added six rebounds, and was instrumental in key moments down the stretch to help the Reddies rally from a halftime deficit. His efficient scoring and physical presence in the paint provided the spark Henderson State needed in a tightly contested GAC matchup.

Defensively, Whybrew anchored the Reddies with a strong all-around effort, finishing with seven rebounds, four steals and a block in just 25 minutes of action. His disruptive play on the defensive end helped swing momentum and force turnovers at critical points in the second half.

Henderson State (7-5, 4-2 GAC) erased an eight-point first-half deficit and leaned on interior play to secure the narrow road victory over Arkansas-Monticello. HSU used interior scoring and a clutch defensive stop to seal the victory over the Boll Weevils.

The Reddies are scheduled to return to action on Jan. 8 at Southwestern Oklahoma State.
