Men's Basketball Prepares for Final Road Trip of Season

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Henderson State men's basketball prepares for its final road trip of the 2025-26 season Thursday when it travels to Russellville to take on Arkansas Tech. Tip-off from Tucker Coliseum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Henderson State enters its final road contest of the season with a Thursday matchup against Arkansas Tech. Both the Reddies and Wonder Boys are in the midst of a congested battle for the final four spots in next week's GAC Championship. Henderson sits in a three-way tie for eighth place in the league, just a game ahead of Tech.

HSU is coming off of its final Oklahoma road swing of the season, falling to 7th-ranked Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. In Saturday's game, the Reddies managed a season-low 18 made field goals, with five of those coming from three-point range.

While the Reddies' scoring defense does not reflect it, the team ranks in the top-five in the GAC in blocks, steals, and turnovers forced per game. HSU also continues to lead the league in bench scoring with 22.4 points per game coming from reserve players.

Henderson had its best three-point stretch during the central Oklahoma road trip. The team made five long-range field goals in each of its two previous games, its best two-game stretch since early December.

Scouting Arkansas Tech

Arkansas Tech comes into Thursday's game in a tie for 11th place in the GAC with Arkansas-Monticello and just a game behind the Reddies and their three-way tie for eighth. The Wonder Boys need to win each of their remaining two games to have a chance to reach the GAC Tournament in Fort Smith next week.

The Wonder Boys have just finished a four-game road trip of their own; they lost games at Harding, Ouachita Baptist, Southeastern Oklahoma, and East Central. The team has lost eight of its last nine games.

ATU is one of the lower-scoring teams in the GAC as the season draws to an end: the team averages just 65.6 points per game. They also commit the most turnovers per game of any team in the Great American Conference and have the second-lowest assist-to-turnover ratio.

Last Meeting: Henderson State surged late behind a balanced second-half push and key defensive stops to edge Arkansas Tech 63–59 on Thursday night at the Duke Wells Center. Zaveion Okoh scored a team-high 15 points and Xavier Owens added 13 as the Reddies (5–4, 2–1 GAC) overturned a four-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Wonder Boys 36–28 after the break. Jabari West was perfect from the floor and finished with 10 points.
