Narvaez, Reddies Capture Victories at Arkansas Intercollegiate

EL DORADO, Ark. – Henderson State women's golf improved on its first-day score by five strokes and held off a late charge from Weatherford College to emerge victorious at the Arkansas Collegiate Tuesday at Mystic Creek Golf Club.

The win is the second of the year for the Reddies, following a win in October's Battle for the Belt in Hot Springs. Tuesday's win included defeating four fellow GAC teams: Harding, Southeastern Oklahoma State, host Southern Arkansas, and Arkansas-Monticello.

Reddie senior Paulina Narvaez took home individual honors after shooting a one-under 71 to finish one-over par for the tournament. The round was one of just two rounds to be played under par in Tuesday's second round. The first-place finish is the second of the year for Narvaez, who also won the individual title at the Battle for the Belt during the fall portion of the season.

Hailey Coleman finished the tournament in fifth place after a Tuesday round of 79. The senior from Radcliffe, Kentucky recorded two birdies on the afternoon to put together her best two-round performance this season.

Finishing just a stroke behind Coleman were Lily Nelson and Isabella Ferreira, who both finished tied for ninth with a two-day total of 11-over par. Nelson gained five strokes on the day, shooting a 75 after a first-round 80, while Ferreira gained a stroke on her Monday round, shooting a 77 after Monday's 78.

Lora Jones finished in a tie for 27th place after carding a 79 on Tuesday. That 79 was a four-stroke improvement over Monday's 11-over 83.
