ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State's women's basketball program had four players earn 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition, as announced on Tuesday.
Senior guard Brynlee Huggins of Pangburn, Arkansas, Senior forward
Grayson Fairless of Mena, Arkansas, sophomore guard
Riley Samples of Austin, Texas, and sophomore guard
Jayla Lewis of Houston, Texas were each named Academic All-District selections. With the honor, Huggins becomes a two-time Academic All-District member.
Huggins started all 27 for the Reddies this season as a senior and team captain and averaged 13.1 points per game. She led the team in 3-point field goals made (61) and minutes played (891) and was named Honorable Mention All-GAC. Fairless, another Honorable Mention All-GAC selection, also started in every contest in her lone season for HSU. She averaged 11.9 points, including a career-high 37 at Arkansas Tech, and 9.9 rebounds per game. Samples averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds per game, played 21.8 minutes, and posted a 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Lewis, in her first season with the red and gray, played in 25 games, averaging 10.4 points and 2.3 rebounds.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, carry a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher, and have competed in 90% of the institution's games played or have started in at least 66% of the games in a single season.
