Reddie Golf Remains in Sixth Place After Day Two at GAC Championship

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – In a day that was marked by the moving of teams up and down the leaderboard, Henderson State found itself remaining in sixth place after the second round of the GAC Championship at Forest Ridge Golf Club. The Reddies improved their round one score by four strokes, turning in a round of 11-over par and 26-over for the tournament.

Arkansas Tech remains the clubhouse leader after 36 holes with a score of 4-over par. The Wonder Boys hold an 11-stroke lead over second-place Southwestern Oklahoma State, while Southern Arkansas (+16), Harding (+19), and Northwestern Oklahoma State (+19) round out the top five.

Colin Purifoy led the Reddies for a second day in a row, carding a 1-under par 71. The senior parred eight consecutive holes after an up and down front nine, birdieing the final hole on the day. Purifoy sits at even par for the tournament and finds himself third on the individual leaderboard, just four strokes behind leader Cameron Tywnholm of Arkansas Tech.

Cooper Williams, like Purifoy, also scored four birdies in his Monday round, shooting a 3-over 75. The GAC Academic Honor Roll selection birdied holes eight and nine to finish the front nine with an even par 36 before a three-hole stretch set his fate with the 75.

Bailey Doe played today as a substitute for Alex Cuadrado and had the third-best score for the team. Doe turned in a 4-over 76 that included a stretch of three birdies in five holes.

Jacob Knowlton showed a consistent presence, matching Monday's 77 with another 5-over on Tuesday. Four bogeys to open the day started a rough round for the Reddie senior, but he settled in with ten consecutive pars and finished the round with a birdie on his final hole.

Brode Horton carded a 7-over 79 on Tuesday; the sophomore started with three pars and a birdie before a tough stretch at the turn, with back-to-back bogeys on his 10th and 11th holes before shooting 1-over on his last 7 holes of the day.

HSU is back in action for Tuesday's final round, beginning with Doe's 8:54 a.m tee time, followed by Horton (9:03), Knowlton (9:12), Williams (9:21), and Purifoy (9:30). The Reddies will be paired with golfers from East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
