Reddies, Yabandith Take Titles at Magicians on the Green

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Reddie men's golf completed its wire-to-wire win at Magicians on the Green on Tuesday to take home its first tournament win of the 2026-27 season. After shooting one under as a team, HSU finished the tournament at six under par, 32 strokes ahead of second-place Lemoyne-Owen.

Henderson freshman Brandon Yabandith took home the individual championship in his first college tournament after a one-under-par 69 in Tuesday's final round. The Rogers, Minnesota product finished the tournament at six-under par, four strokes ahead of the second-place finisher Atharv Sharma of Northwest Mississippi.

Colin Purifoy dropped two spots after a 76 on Tuesday, but still managed a third-place finish. The fifth-year player struggled early, going five over on his front nine before settling in for the rest of the day. Purifoy's finish comes on the heels of a finish at last week's tournament in Warrensburg, Missouri, where the Hope native earned GAC Golfer of the Week honors.

The two Reddies playing as individuals had different outcomes Tuesday but still tied for fourth place on the leaderboard. Marcos Park (-1) and Alex Cuadrado (+5) each finished at one over for the tournament. Each player managed four birdies on the day, but the difference was Cuadrado's three double bogeys in the final round.

Brode Horton leaped four spots after a one-under 69 to finish in a tie for eighth place with a score of two-over par. The Hot Springs native lit up the front nine with three birdies as part of a four-birdie, three-bogey day.

Bailey Doe and Colton Rich had matching rounds after finishing in a tie yesterday, and the two finished in a tie for 13th place at eight over for the championship. Both men shot even-par 70 at The Links at Pine Hill Tuesday morning, including four birdies and four bogeys each.

The Reddies will look to win back-to-back tournaments when they take to Hot Springs Country Club September 28th and 29th for the Battle for the Belt. Henderson State will attempt to capture its eighth straight win at its home tournament.
