RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Great American Conference announces its postseason softball awards on Wednesday, and multiple Henderson State Reddies received accolades.
Third Baseman
Hilary Akers earned second team All-GAC honors. Akers, a Houston, Texas native, started in every game for the Reddies this season. Her .368 batting average led the team, and ranked in the top-10 in the GAC. Akers led the Reddies in hits (63), triples (4), and total bases (85). Akers ranked second on the team with a .437
 slugging percentage and a .934 OPS and held a .932 fielding percentage and 7 double plays turned.
Second Baseman Josie Golden was the other Reddie to earn All-GAC honors, as an honorable mention. The North Little Rock native started in 51 games this season. Golden batted .302, a career-high, while ranking second in doubles (13), while ranking third in hits (38), home runs (3), and RBI (21). Golden recorded a .907 OPS, while slugging .476, while turning 7 double plays turned, tied with Akers.
HSU was also well represented in the academic awards. Redshirt Sophomore Sam Flores was named an Elite Scholar Athlete. This award is given only to student-athletes with the highest GPA, with a minimum of 70 credit hours. Akers, Presley Applegate, Aspyn Beattie, Macy Hoskins, Mazzi Jones, and Langley Miller were all named to the GAC Academic Honor Roll. All athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA and a minimum of one year of full-time college residency are eligible for this honor.
