LADY REDDIES LOSE FOURTH STRAIGHT

Henderson State lost its fourth straight as the Lady Reddies lost to Harding 66-49, Saturday at the Rhodes Fieldhouse in Searcy, Ark.

The Lady Reddies, 11-7 overall and 4-4 in the Great American Conference, struggled with the Harding defense as the Lady Bisons scored 17 points off of turnovers.

“I was disappointed with the way we played the last two games, but tonight we played hard and never quit,” said HSU coach Chris Oestreich. “We just didn't shoot the ball well and they beat us on the boards.”

It was a dismal first-half for the Lady Reddies as Henderson made just 7-of-27 shots from the field for 26 percent and were held to its lowest half of scoring this season.

Harding dominated the boards in the opening 20 minutes, outrebounding Henderson 24 to 12 and was able to build a 29-18 halftime lead.

Things didn't get any better in the second-half as Harding continued to control the tempo, forcing the Lady Reddies to shoot low percentage shots while continuing to win the battle on the boards.

Aungelique Sledge had a career-high 14 points to lead the Lady Reddies, while Destiny Smith and Shillallie Jones both ended the game with 7 points.

Harding, 13-5 and 6-2 in the GAC, was led by Cherilyn McManamy with 20 points, while Montana Lewis scored 16 points.

Henderson State ended the game shooting just 35 percent from the field, converting on 18-of-52 shots. The Lady Reddies also struggled from the foul line making just 9-of-22 attempts.

Harding used 47 percent shooting from the floor making 24-of-51 attempts, while draining 6-of-20 3-point field goals.

The Lady Reddies will travel to Weatherford, Okla. on Thursday to face league-leading Southwestern Oklahoma with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
