MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Four of the five starters for Henderson State scored in double figures as the Henderson State women's basketball team cruised to a 72-47 win over LeMoyne-Owen on Tuesday night at the Bruce/Johnson Hall Gymnasium in Memphis, Tenn.
 
The Lady Reddies (2-1) would get off to a quick start in the first five minutes of the game by taking an early six-point lead, 7-1. The Lady Magicians would battle back from the early hole over the next 10 minutes and took a lead on three separate occasions during that time.
 
In the waning minutes of the first half, with the scored knotted up at 23-all, 
Krystal Beachum gave the Lady Reddies the final lead they would need as she buried a three-pointer.  The Lady Reddies would add six more points to close out the half on a 9-0 run, and to take a lead by that same margin into the break.
 
Midway through the second half, the Lady Reddies swelled their lead to 20 points, 51-31. From there, the Lady Reddies' lead would remain in the 20's before eventually winning by a margin of 25 points, 72-41.
 
Sheay Longstaff led the team in scoring with a season-high 18 points. The senior from Topeka, Kans. shot 7-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. 
 
Just behind Longstaff in scoring was 
Destiny Smith with 16 points on the strength of 6-of-8 shooting from the floor. Smith also led the team in rebounds with 11 to give her a double-double.
 
Krystal Beachum turned in her third straight game in double figures as she finished with 13 points. 
Shareka Maner extended the same streak as she added 10 points.
 
The Lady Reddies will be back in action on Thursday, November 29th as they will play host to Southeastern Oklahoma at the Duke Wells Center. The game, which is set for a 5:30 pm tip-off, will mark the Lady Reddies first conference game of the season.
