An overwhelming offensive outburst by the University of Arkansas-Monticello led to the Henderson State University softball team dropping both games of Saturday's Great American Conference doubleheader at Blossoms Field by scores of 9-0 and 16-8.

The Lady Reddies (15-20, 7-11 GAC) managed just one hit and were held scoreless in the opening game while the Cotton Blossoms (18-10, 6-2 GAC) recorded 12 hits and scored nine runs en route to the shutout victory.

Game two saw the Lady Reddie offense get going as they piled up 15 hits and scored eight runs. The increased production was still not enough to match the Cotton Blossom offense as they tallied 20 hits and doubled the Lady Reddies' run total.

Gina Guajardo, Sarah Gipson, Amy Halter, and Amber Klug all had multiple hits in the second game. Guajardo was 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs. Gipson was 3-for-4 with a RBI. Halter was a perfect 4-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Klug was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Both teams will be back in action for another doubleheader on Sunday, March 25th at Blossoms Field. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 p.m.
