Henderson State had its chances but could not capitalize as the Lady Reddies lost to Southeastern Oklahoma 4-2 in an elimination game at Great American Conference Tournament in Bentonville, Ark.
The Lady Reddies had numerous base runners but were unable to put together the big inning leaving seven runners stranded.
Southeastern jumped on the board first scoring a run in the opening inning as Lindsay Lacy reached on a single to center field and later scored on a Sam Vrska single to left field to make the score 1-0.
The Lady Reddies countered in the top of the second inning as
Sarah Gipson reached on a two-out error by second baseman Lacy.
Amber Wilburn then collected her 10
th RBI of the year with a triple off the right-center field fence to tie the score at 1-1.
Henderson State threatened in the top half of the third as
Brittnie Dean and
Amy Halter combined for back-to-back singles with one out.
SEOSU starting pitcher Audra Rhudy was able to retire
Ashley Ray on a fly-out to third base before loading the bases as
Amber Klug reached on a walk to set the stage for
Katey Gorsage. Gorsage then hit a deep fly to center field, but Paige Priest made an over-the-shoulder catch to end the inning.
The Savage Storm then came to bat in the bottom half of the third and loaded the bases with no-outs.
Katie Campbell gave Southeastern the lead with a sacrifice fly to right field, then Vrska belted her second run-scoring single of the game to make the score 3-1. Courtney Moore then grounded out which plated another run to give SEOSU a three-run advantage after three innings of play.
Henderson was able to plate a run in the fourth as Gipson led off the inning with a double and later scored on a
Brooke Blackford groundout to make the score 4-2, but
Henderson State was unable to score another run.
Gorsage ended the tournament going 6-for-10 with a triple, home run and three runs batted in to lead the Lady Reddies.
Klug went 5-for-9 in the three games with a home run and four RBI, while Gipson was 5-for-10 with two doubles and two runs driven in.
Henderson State finishes the season with a 20-30 record.
