Aungelique Sledge (West Helena, Ark.) was only seven points shy of breaking a nine-year old record for most points in a game. Kathy Comeaux currently holds the record after scoring 39 points on Jan. 4, 1994 against Texas A&M-Commerce. Slegde finished with 33 points, 22 coming in the first half. Adding to her career game, the junior also collected nine steals, surpassing her old personal best of five, set back on Dec. 31, 2012 against McMurry.
The defensive stepped it up for HSU as they forced 25 turnovers, scoring 33 points off of it. ECU was held to only 28 percent from the field, while Henderson State was 15-for-34 for 44 percent.
Although East Central averaged a taller roster, the Lady Reddies outscored the Lady Tigers in the paint, 40-13.
HSU set the tone the first half as junior Vanessa Pieper (Warren, Ark.) swished a 3-pointer for the first basket of the game. Sledge followed suit with one of her own and the Lady Reddies took an early 6-2 lead nearly two minutes in the game.
Midway through the first half, the Lady Tigers nabbed 12 offensive boards, getting nine second-chance points as they even saw 12-9 lead.

Henderson State buckled down as they only allowed one more from ECU, and grabbing five of their own.
At the 3:48 mark, the Lady Reddies took a four point lead and extended it to double-digits heading into the locker room. Utilizing a steal from Sledge, HSU scored off the fast-break to begin their run. Sophomore Dulincia Keener (Texarkana, Ark.) contributed back-to-back baskets, along with a free-throw from Tiara Davis (So. Longview, Texas), and the lead was pushed to 11, 39-28, in the first 20 minutes of play.
The second half was controlled by Henderson State who outscored East Central, 30-25.
The Lady Reddies never lost the lead in the final 20 minutes and even had a 24-point lead on two different occasions. HSU opened the second half scoring 12-of-13 in the first six minutes of action.
Henderson State will look to carry that momentum as they travel to Lyon College for a non-conference matchup on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
