LADY REDDIES LOSE TO HARDING IN OVERTIME

A 9-0 run in the final 1:13 of overtime lifted Harding to a 76-69 win over Henderson State in women's basketball action at the Rhodes Field House in Searcy, Ark.
 
Henderson State struggled in the extra period as the Lady Reddies went without a field goal and converted on just 5-of-10 free throws.
 
Harding was 3-for-8 in the overtime period while making 6-of-8 free throws.
 
Leading 29-24 at the half, Henderson stretched its lead to eight points to begin the second half behind a 3-point field by Sheay Longstaff.
 
Henderson State, 10-11 overall and 5-10 in the Great American Conference, led the entire second half until the final second. Having a 63-62 advantage with 11 seconds left in regulation, Krystal Beachum was sent to the foul line for two shots after being fouled by Lauren Crenshaw.
 
Beachum hit the first free throw, but the second free throw attempt was off the mark and fell into the hands of Harding's Shana Holmes. With just under two seconds remaining, Kristen Celsor was fouled by Shareka Maner. Celser converted on both free throw attempts to send the game into overtime.
 
In the extra frame, Henderson State took a 69-67 lead with 1:32 left to play as Destiny Smith hit a pair of free throws. Henderson, however, failed to score the remainder of the game while Harding took advantage of three Lady Reddie turnovers down the stretch to assist in the Lady Bisons' run.
 
Beachum ended the night with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Smith had 13 points and 9 boards. Jill Temples also scored in double-figures for the Lady Reddies scoring 10 points. Maner had 7 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
 
Celser led Harding with 23 points and 8 rebounds.
 
The Lady Reddies were 23-for-58 from the field for 40 percent from the field. Harding was successful on 40.3 percent from the field making 29-of-72 field goal attempts.
 
Henderson committed 21 turnovers with Harding scoring 16 points off the Lady Reddie miscues.
 
Henderson State returns home Saturday to face Arkansas Tech at the Duke Wells Center with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
