Box Score 2 Henderson State scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth-inning to rally for a 4-3 win over Central Missouri, Friday at the 7-State Softball Classic in Bentonville, Ark.
The Lady Reddies, 4-8 on the season, took a 1-0 lead in the third-inning as
Kailey Johnson hit a two-out double to score
Amy Halter who walked earlier in the inning.
Central Missouri took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth as Ashlea Bengtson led off the inning with a solo home run with Jakki Prater,later scoring on a passed ball after reaching base with a single.
The Jennies added a run in the fifth-inning with the help of a Henderson error to make the score 3-1.
In Henderson's half of the fifth,
Shelbie Palmore led off the inning with a double, followed by as
Laura Mabary single. Both runners advanced on a passed ball with Palmore scoring to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Henderson's sixth-inning began with a single by Allison Waggoner. Two batters later,
Sarah Gipson singled and then
Laura Beth Ray reached on an error to load the bases.
Waggoner was forced home when Palmore walked, and then pinch runner
Katie Hulan scored on a passed ball for the game-winning run.
Mabary collected two of Henderson's six hits in the game, while Johnson and Palmore both had doubles.
Kasey Carlock went the distance in the circle for Henderson State to improve to 2-4 on the year.
Henderson State faced 18
th-ranked Emporia State later in the day with the Hornets beating the Lady Reddies 11-1.
The Lady Reddies managed just four hits with
Sarah Gipson going 2-for-2 in the game.
Henderson State will continue the three-day tournament on Saturday as the Lady Reddies face Missouri Western at 10 a.m. and Fort Hays State at 2 p.m.
