LADY REDDIES LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT

Henderson State lost its third straight game as Southern Nazarene beat the Lady Reddies 65-53, Thursday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Destiny Smith and Krystal Beachum accounted for 80 percent of Henderson's points as Smith ended with a career-high 28 points, while Beachum totaled 14.

Henderson State, 10-10 overall and 5-9 in the Great American Conference, could not overcome the height disadvantage as the Crimson Storm dominated the game underneath.

SNU, 11-9 and 8-6, outrebounded Henderson State 46 to 36 with the 6-foot, 4-inch Aminata Fall grabbing 24 rebounds to go along with 16 points.

The first-half belonged to Southern Nazarene as the Crimson Storm used a 17-0 run over an eight minute span to take a 29-10 lead with 4:41 remaining in the half.

During Henderson's drought, the Lady Reddies missed nine shots and committed seven turnovers.

Beachum broke the scoring slump with a layup at the 3:34 mark. Smith then sparked a Lady Reddie 12-3 run scoring the next 10 points as Henderson cut the deficit to 32-22 by the end of the half.

Southern Nazarene built its lead back to 14 in the second half, but Henderson was able to get within four as Smith and Beachum combined for 20 points during a period of 11 minutes with Smith making the score 50-46 by hitting two free throws with 5:21 remaining in the game.

The Crimson Strom then pulled away from the Lady Reddies scoring 9 straight points with the help of a 3-point field goal and a pair of free throws by Krisyin Milster.

Henderson State ended the game shooting just 30 percent from the field converting on 16-of-53 attempts. Southern Nazarene hit on 40 percent from the floor making 25-of-63 shots.

Oumoul Thiam led Southern Nazarene with 24 points.

The Lady Reddies will next travel to Searcy, Ark. on Feb. 14 to take on Harding with the opening tip set for 5:30 p.m.
