Four home runs helped Henderson State take a double-header from Southern Arkansas as the Lady Reddies beat the Lady Muleriders 4-3 and 8-4, Friday in Magnolia, Ark.
Amber Wilburn hit a three-run homer and a solo home run in first game, while
Katey Gorsage blasted a three-run knock and
Kailey Johnson had a solo bomb in game two.
Wilburn's first home run of the series came in the first-inning to give HSU a 3-0 lead. She added her solo shot in the fifth to increase the lead to 4-0.
SAU, 14-14 overall and 6-6 in the Great American Conference, plated two runs in the fifth behind Darian Harris' two-run homer.
The Lady Muleriders scored a run in the seventh and had runners on the corners, but Johnson got out of the inning to record the win and improve to 9-4 on the year.
In game two, SAU took a 2-0 lead in the first-inning before Henderson plated a run in the second on a RBI single by
Katie Hulan.
The Lady Reddies, 15-15 and 9-5 in the GAC, took the lead in the third with Gorsage's three-run blast to give HSU a 4-2 lead.
After SAU scored a run in the third, Johnson extended the Lady Reddie lead to 5-3 with a solo home run to center field.
Henderson added three more runs in the seventh with the help of a two-run single by
Laura Mabary.
Casey Carlock went the distance in the circle for Henderson State, striking out seven batters while improving to 6-8 on the year.
Mabary went 4-for-8 on the day, while Wilburn was 3-for-6 with two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored.
The two teams will finish the series with a double-header on Saturday in Magnolia with the first pitch set 1 p.m.
