Arkansas-Monticello took advantage of nine walks to win a double-header from Henderson State in softball action, Thursday at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
UAM, 20-14 overall and 7-5 in the Great American Conference, scored all five of its runs in the top of the third inning to win game one. The Cotton Blossoms benefitted from two walks and a hit batter with Kali Piha supplying a two-run single in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Reddies left the bases loaded in both the first and second innings, before finally scoring a pair of runs in the seventh-inning, getting a two-run single by
Sarah Gipson.
In the second game, UAM loaded the bases in the second-inning with all three batters reaching base on walks. Summer Huddleston quickly put four runs on the board with a grand slam.
The Cotton Blossoms also got solo home runs from Piha and Sara Matthews later in the game.
Laura Mabary and
Morgan South led Henderson State with three hits on the day.
The Lady Reddies, 15-19 on the year and 9-9 in the GAC, will play host to the Cotton Blossoms on Friday at Noon to complete the four-game series.
