For the second consecutive day, Henderson State upset the No. 2 team in the nation as the Lady Reddies beat Southeastern Oklahoma 5-1, Saturday at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
After losing game one 4-1, it didn't take long for the Lady Reddies to get on the board in the finale as
Katie Hulan drove in the first run of the game with a single which plated
Laura Mabary. Mabary reached on a single to left field earlier in the inning.
Mabary again started things in the Henderson third with a single to left field and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Katey Gorsage to make the score 2-0.
Henderson then exploded for three runs in the fifth-inning to build a 5-0 lead.
Hali Kizer reached on a one-out walk and advanced to third on a
Kayla Williams double to right field.
Amy Halter then hit an infield bloop-single to score Kizer followed by a two-run double by
Sarah Gipson to the right-center field power alley to score two more runs.
Southeastern Oklahoma, 21-6 overall and 6-2 in the Great American Conference, mounted big threats in the middle three innings loading the bases each time, but Williams managed to get out of each inning and coasted through the final two frames to get the win in the circle.
Williams allowed five hits and struck out four batters to improve to 8-4 on the year. Williams also picked up the win on Friday against the Savage Storm.
Henderson State, 13-15 overall and 7-5 in the GAC, was led offensively by Mabary who had two hits in the final game and was 3-for-6 in the double-header.
Amber Wilburn went 3-for-5 in the twin bill, while Gipson and Williams each had doubles on the day.
