LADY REDDIES SPLIT WITH SWOSU

Katie Hulan drove home Hali Kizer with a fielder's choice to lead Henderson State to a 3-1 extra-inning win over Southwestern Oklahoma, Friday in Weatherford, Okla.

The Lady Reddies, 18-26 overall and 12-14 in the Great American Conference, could not complete the sweep as the Bulldogs rebounded to win the nightcap 4-2.

In the opener, Henderson trailed 1-0 after five innings before Kizer tied the game with a single up the middle which scored Amy Halter who pinch-ran for Amber Wilburn after Wilburn doubled to lead off the inning.

In the extra frame, Kizer singled to left field with one out to get things started for the Lady Reddies.

Morgan South followed with a single to right field with Kizer advancing to third. Hulan reached on a fielder's choice to force home Kizer.

Kayla Williams provided the Lady Reddies with an insurance run with a single up the middle to score South.

Williams went the distance in the circle and allowed just four hits to improve to 11-10 on the year.

The Lady Reddies totaled 11 hits in the game with Sarah Gipson going 3-for-4, while Kizer and South had two hits each. Henderson State left 11 runners stranded.

In game two, Henderson State again outhit its opponent having seven safeties compared to just two by SWOSU.

SWOSU, 13-31 overall and 7-21 in the GAC, led 1-0 after one inning of play as Henderson State committed two errors in the inning.

The Lady Reddies managed to get the run back in the second as Katey Gorsage doubled and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Hulan.

Two walks and a pair of hit batters in the second-inning led to three runs for the Bulldogs.   

Henderson loaded the bases in the fourth-inning but managed just one run as South scored on a passed ball after reaching on a single earlier in the inning.

The two teams will finish the series on Saturday with a double-header beginning at Noon.
