HSU AND SWOSU SPLIT AGAIN

Henderson State and Southwestern Oklahoma split another double-header on Saturday, with the Lady Reddies winning game one 11-9, but losing the series finale 4-3.

After the series split, Henderson State is 19-27 overall and 13-15 in the Great American Conference, while SWOSU is 14-31 and 8-22 in league play.

Six Lady Reddies had multiple hits in the opener with Amber Wilburn leading the way going 3-for-5. Wilburn hit her seventh home run of the year in the game and drove in three runs.

Amy Halter, Hali Kizer, Morgan South, Katey Gorsage and Katie Hulan had two hits each.

Kizer had a home run and a pair of RBI, with South, Gorsage and Hulan all having doubles. Hulan also had three RBI in the game.

Sarah Gipson hit her seventh home run of the year driving in three runs as well.

Cagen Medlock picked up the win in the circle to improve to 2-3 on the season.

In the series finale, Henderson State took a 1-0 lead in the first-inning as Wilburn laced a single up the middle to plate Laura Mabary who led off the game with a base-hit.

SWOSU tied the score at 1-1 in the second and added three more runs in the third to take a 4-1 lead.

Henderson struggled offensively until the seventh-inning when Kizer led off the inning with a solo home run.

The Lady Reddies then loaded the bases with the help of singles by Gorsage and Kayla Williams.

With one-out, Mabary reached on an error which scored Gorsage to make the score 4-3.

SWOSU pitcher Julianne Mar was able to retire Halter and Gipson without allowing another run and pick up the win.

Kizer ended the four-game series going 6-for-13 with two home runs and four RBI, with South, Gorsage, and Wilburn all having five hits during the weekend.

Henderson State will finish the regular-season next weekend when the Lady Reddies travel to Bethany, Okla. to face Southern Nazarene in a four-game GAC series beginning Friday.
