Midwestern State used seven home runs to beat Henderson State 10-5 and 10-1 in softball action, Tuesday afternoon at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Mustangs, 27-11 on the season, jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opener with the big hit being a three-run home run by Shelby Carter.

The Lady Reddies, 17-21, scored a run in the first-inning on a run-scoring single by Kailey Johnson.

Henderson State cut the deficit to 5-3 in the third-inning as Hali Kizer and Sarah Gipson hit back-to-back home runs.

The Mustangs quickly responded in the top half of the fourth scoring three runs with the help of a two-run single by Katelyn Vinson.

Henderson was able to get a run back in the fifth and plated another run in the final frame on Gipson's second home run of the game.

In game two, MSU scored seven runs in the fourth-inning on home runs by Kim Jerrick, Courtney Bingham, and Vinson.

Henderson's lone run of the game came in the bottom half of the inning as Allison Waggoner led off with a triple and then scored on a Katey Gorsage single.

The Mustangs added three more runs in the fifth on a two-run home run by Kelley Schaefer and a solo shot by Carter.
Gipson led Henderson State going 5-for-7, while Laura Mabary and Kizer had three hits each.

Henderson State will next play host to East Central in a four-game Great American Conference series beginning on Friday at 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
