Henderson State finished its regular-season schedule losing a double-header to Southern Nazarene 5-2 and 5-3, Saturday in Bethany, Okla.
In the opener, Henderson State took a 1-0 lead when
Amber Wilburn laced a double to left-centerfield to score
Amy Halter who singled earlier in the inning.
Southern Nazarene, 20-33 overall and 12-33 in the Great American Conference, took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning without the use of a base hit. The Crimson Storm took advantage of two walks and a Lady Reddie error in the inning.
SNU added a run in the second-inning as two batters were hit by a pitch while Kylie Lang drove in a run with a single to left center to make the score 3-1.
Sarah Gipson cut the deficit to 3-2 with a solo home run in the fifth-inning, but SNU scored two unearned runs in the sixth-inning to secure the win.
In the series finale, SNU rallied for five runs in the final two innings to claim the series.
Henderson State built a 2-0 lead after four innings with the help of singles by
Shelbie Palmore,
Amber Wilburn and
Morgan South.
SNU tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth-inning on a two-run home run by Kacey Acker.
Henderson State regained the lead in the seventh-inning as
Laura Mabary plated
Kayla Williams with a one-out single up the middle to make the score 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Megan Blevens hit a one-out, walk off 3-run homer to give SNU the win.
Gipson ended the double-header going 3-for-6, while Palmore, Halter, Wilburn, Mabary, and
Katie Hulan had two hits each.
The Lady Reddies, 20-30 overall and 14-18 in the GAC, will enter next week's GAC Tournament as the sixth-seed and will face third-seeded Arkansas Tech on Thursday in Bentonville, Ark. with the first pitch set at 10 a.m.
