The East Central Oklahoma softball team showed why they are the top hitting club in the Great American Conference as the Lady Tigers beat Henderson State 9-1 and 7-2, Friday at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Lady Tigers entered the weekend series with a .363 team batting average while hitting a league best 41 home runs.
ECU added improved to those numbers on Friday with 17 hits and a pair of home runs.
Henderson State, 17-23 overall and 11-11 in the GAC, managed just four hits in the opener with
Kayla Williams leading the way with a RBI double.
The Lady Reddies totaled five hits in the second game with
Amber Wilburn providing all the scoring with a two-run home run.
Sarah Gipson had two hits in the game.
East Central, 29-9 on the year and 15-5 in the GAC, was led by Gina Mengwasser having four hits and three RBI.
The two teams will finish the series with a double-header on Saturday beginning at Noon at Dee White Field.
