LADY REDDIES SUFFER FIRST LOSS AT HOME

Henderson State suffered its first loss at home as East Central beat the Lady Reddies 62-52, Thursday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Lady Reddies, 12-6 overall and 7-5 in the Great American Conference, had its eight-game home winning streak end thanks a lackluster shooting performance.

East Central, 12-6 overall and 7-5 in the GAC, controlled the game from the start outrebounding the Lady Reddies 41 to 31 while dominating the inside game outscoring
Henderson 32 to 18 in the paint.

Henderson State began the game making three straight 3-point field goals to take an early 9-8 lead.

However, the Lady Reddies fell behind 31-20 at the 3:30 mark as they made just 1-of-11 shots inside the arc and were outrebounded 17-10.

Aungelique Sledge sparked the Lady Reddies as Henderson outscored ECU 9-2 the final three minutes and trailed 33-29 at the break.

Sledge had 9 points in the half and Vanessa Pieper scored 6 as Henderson made 6-of-10 from 3-point range. However, the inside play was stagnant as the Lady Reddies converted on just 3-of- 12 shots inside the paint.

East Central controlled the tempo of the game in the second half as Henderson's shooting woes continued. The Lady Reddies were just 6-of-28 from the field in the half for a dismal 21 percent.

Sledge was the only Lady Reddie in double-figures with 11 points, with Taylor Washington scoring 9 points.

Dulincia Keener led the team in rebounding with eight to go along with 5 points.

It was one of the worst shooting performances of the year as Henderson State finished the game shooting 29 percent from the field making 15-of-51 shots including 6-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Reddies converted on just 9-of-32 shots in the paint.

East Central finished the game making 25-of-55 from the field for a shooting percentage of 45.5.

Henderson State will next play host to Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday with tip-off set for 2 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
