Box Score The Henderson State women's basketball team fell to Missouri S&T 85-68 on Saturday evening in Rolla, Mo.
A balanced scoring attack from the Lady Miners proved to be the deciding factor, and HSU could not overcome shooting 25 percent from beyond the arc in its first game of the season, making just 8 of 32.
The Reddies made 21 of 57 attempts overall for a 36.8 shooting percentage.
Henderson State led 41-36 at halftime, but a strong second half surge propelled Missouri S&T to victory, as the Lady Miners outscored the Reddies 49-27.
Aungelique Sledge led the way for the Reddies with 18 points, but was held to just 4 of 15 shooting from the field and 3 of 10 from 3-point range.
Sledge also led the Reddies in rebounding, pulling down 7 boards.
Haleigh Henson pitched in 16 points, making 6 of 19 shots from the field.
After shooting 41 percent from the field in the first half, the Reddies cooled off to just 30 percent in the second, allowing Missouri S&T to climb back into the game and regain momentum.
Missouri S&T's Elsie Greenwood(18) and Leigh-Ann Kesper(13) combined for 31 points, and shot a combined 13-20 from the field to lead the way for the Lady Miners.
Henderson returns to action on Monday evening, as the Reddies take on Texas A&M-Commerce in their home opener at the Duke Wells Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
