Lady Reddies Blast 5 Home Runs in 8-0 Win Over Southeastern

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Morgan South hit a three-run home run to help lead Henderson State to an 8-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma, Friday in Durant, Okla.

South was one of five Lady Reddies to hit a home run as Henderson State totaled 10 hits in the game.

Southeastern Oklahoma, 33-15 overall and 26-11 in the Great American Conference,  won the first game of the double-header 3-1, to claim the top seed in next week's GAC Tournament.

After dropping the opener, Henderson State didn't waste time getting on the board in the nightcap as Sarah Gipson hit a two-run blast in the first-inning.

Tricia Hock led off the Lady Reddie third-inning with a solo shot of her own before Morgan clubbed a Shayna Milam pitch over the left-center field fence.

Alicia Zack slammed a solo home run in the fourth frame and Ashlyn White hit Henderson's fifth long ball of the game in the fifth-inning.

Aside from Henderson's huge offensive performance, Kayla Williams had her best game of the season in the circle as she allowed just two hits and faced just three batters above the minimum to pick up the win and improve to 7-10 on the season.

Every Lady Reddie starter had a hit in the game with White having two hits.

In the first game, SEOSU took a 2-0 lead in the third-inning with the big hit being a RBI double by Haley Strawn.

Henderson State, 28-21 and 24-14 in the GAC, cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth-inning as Amy Halter led off the inning with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by White.

The Lady Reddies collected three hits in the fifth-inning as Williams, Zack and Hock all singled, but Henderson was unable to plate a run.

Cagen Medlock gave up just six hits and struck out four batters for the Lady Reddies in getting the loss.

The two teams will finish the four-game series with a double-header Saturday at Noon.
