Box Score In a back-and-forth thriller on Saturday afternoon, the Henderson State women's basketball team fell 82-73 to No. 8 Arkansas Tech at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville, Ark.
Hot shooting form behind the 3-point line kept the Reddies close in the first half, as they knocked down 6-of-15 attempts and trailed by only two, 40-38.
After trailing 28-22 at the 7:12 mark, back-to-back threes from 
Aungelique Sledge tied the game at 28 with 4:23 to play in the first half.
Sledge scored 10 first half points on 4-of-8 from the field including those two three-pointers.
Dulincia Keener had a big first half for Henderson as well, also scoring 10 points.
The Reddies forced 10 first half turnovers while only committing 8, and shot 14-of-31 from the field for 45 percent.
After tying the game at 44-44 early in the second half, Henderson would take the lead on a pair of 
Jasmine Settles free throws, and push it out even further to 48-44 after a Sledge layup in transition at the 16:10 mark.
Over the next seven minutes the teams traded buckets, and Tech regained a 55-54 lead on a Shaunice Robinson layup with 9:57 remaining.
However, Sledge would push the Reddies back ahead 60-59 with a pair of free throws at the 8:13 mark.
After going up 66-62, The Golden Suns made their next four shots to take a 74-67 lead at with 4:23 left, as they continued to pound the ball inside to Fatima Adams.
HSU would pull as close as 76-73 on a Sledge layup at the 1:22 mark, but a technical foul call was assessed to the Henderson State bench in the final minute after an intentional foul call on Keener.
Arkansas Tech would close the game out, as they sunk six straight free throws.
Aungelique Sledge led all HSU scorers with 27 points on 10-of-19 attempts, while also pulling down 9 rebounds.
Dulincia Keener also had a big day with 19 points and seven rebounds, while 
Jasmine Settles pitched in 17, including three 3-point baskets.
Fatima Adams led the way for Arkansas Tech with 25 points on 10-of-13 attempts, and also had 10 rebounds.
Anissa Pounds also pitched in 17 points, while Danielle Frachiseur had 12 for Tech.
Henderson State finished the game shooting 27-for-60 from the field for 45 percent shooting, while Arkansas Tech shot 33-of-60 for 55 percent.
Henderson State will return home to take on the Harding Lady Bisons on Thursday night, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
