REDDIE SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM SWOSU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Henderson State began a four-game Great American Conference softball series with a double-header sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma, Friday in Weatherford, Okla.

The Reddies, 18-6 overall and 5-3 in the GAC, opened with a 15-2 clubbing of the Bulldogs and rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win the nightcap 8-5.

Henderson State belted out 13 hits in the opener with Alicia Zack leading the way going 3-for-4 including a double and a pair of runs batted in.

Nine different players had hits for the Reddies with Tricia Hock and Taylor Daniels both having two hits.

Ashlyn White picked up the win in the circle to improve to 6-2 on the year.

Game two was a different story as Southwestern Oklahoma scored four runs in the second-inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Henderson State would rally to tie the score in the top of the third as the Reddies scored four runs on three hits.

The Reddie inning began with Hock reaching on a walk and then stealing second. After advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by Amy Halter, Hock scored when Sarah Gibson drove a single up the middle for the first Henderson run.

Kiersten Seahorn then reached on a Bulldog fielding error followed by a Taylor Daniels single to left field to load the bases.

Courtney Warren delivered the big hit when she tripled down the right field line to tie the score.

Henderson State took the lead the first time in the fifth-inning when Zack hit a sacrifice to score Gipson who walked to lead off the inning and would to third on singles by Seahorn and Daniels.

After SWOSU tied the score at 5-5 on the bottom half of the inning, Henderson would put up two when Seahorn delivered a two-run two-out single to put the Reddies on top 7-5.

The Reddies would add an insurance run in the seventh on a Caroline Cullins single that plated Zack.

Seahorn and Daniels had three hits each to lead the Reddie hitting attack.

Sorensen pitched 5.1 innings and struck out six batters to pick up the win and improve to 7-4 on the year.

Daniels went 5-for-7 in the twin bill, while Seahorn was 4-fo-7 with four runs batted in.

The two teams will finish the series with a double-header Saturday beginning at Noon.
