HSU Women’s Basketball Looks to Remain Undefeated in Conference on Road at SWOSU

The Henderson State women's basketball team will look to remain perfect in Great American Conference play as the Reddies take on Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla.

HSU's last game was on Dec. 19, 2015 as the Reddies fell in non-conference action at Texas A&M-Commerce 73-61.

The Reddies(5-5, 4-0 GAC) were led by Victoria Stewart who had 19 points including making 5-of-9 from the 3-point arc, along with nine rebounds.

Dulincia Keener totaled 13 points and 6 rebounds in the contest, while Haleigh Henson added 11.

HSU averages 72.1 points per game this season, shooting 41 percent from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range.

The Reddies also narrowly lead the rebounding category by 0.7 rebounds per game over opponents this season.

Keener leads the team in scoring averaging 16.9 points per game, and also averages 8.5  rebounds per contest.

The senior from Texarkana currently ranks fourth in HSU history in rebounds, and needs just 118 more to claim the rebounding record from Aesha Carter(2003-05).

Stewart averages 13.2 points per game and also leads the Reddies in assists per game averaging 2.5.

Haleigh Henson is third in scoring averaging 12.1 points, while her former high school teammate Brittany Branum pitches in 8.8 points per game and is second on the team averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.

Southwestern Oklahoma(5-5, 1-3 GAC) comes in off a 90-58 blowout win over Oklahoma University of Science and Arts on Saturday.

Four SWOSU players finished the game in double-figures, led by Jessica Penner with 19 points for the second straight game.

Hailey Tucker and Morgan Vogt scored 12 each, while Jade Jones pitched in 10.

It was SWOSU's fourth straight victory as the Lady Bulldogs wrapped up their non-conference slate.

Last time the two teams met, it was the highest scoring game in Great American Conference women's basketball history.

Henderson State fell at Southwestern Oklahoma 116-108 on Feb. 21, 2015, in a game that featured six Reddies scoring in double-figures.

Southwestern Oklahoma leads the all-time record over HSU 7-4.
