The Henderson State softball team will play at the newly renovated Dee White Field for the first time as the Reddies play host to Harding in a four-game Great American Conference series play beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
The teams will play a double-header on Friday, followed by another twin-bill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
During the off-season, Henderson's home for softball received a new synthetic playing surface, new lighting for night games, and numerous other improvements surrounding the field.
The Reddies, 7-3 on the season, have already recorded some impressive wins this season over some of the top competition in the region.
Henderson is led offensively by
Courtney Warren who is hitting .318.
Alexia Lopez follows with a .294 average and leads the team with three home runs.
The Reddie pitching staff sports a 1.72 earned runs average and have combined to strike out 48 batters in 69 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .171 off of Henderson's pitching staff.
Michelle Sorensen leads the team with a 5-2 record including a 1.40 ERA. The sophomore from Sherwood, Ark. has recorded 36 strike outs in 40 innings.
Newcomer
Madison Calvert is 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA. The sophomore from Cleburne, Texas has fanned eight batters in 27 innings.
Harding is also 7-3 on the year after winning four games in the 8-states Arkansas-Monticello Classic last weekend.
The Lady Bisons hit .327 with 34 runs scored and 31 RBIs in Bentonville, including six home runs.
Harding is hitting .336 on the year and ranks third in the GAC.
Kinsey Beck leads the Lady Bisons, hitting .424. Beck leads the team with 14 hits and two doubles. Brookelynn Moon is right behind her hitting .414.
Kimmy Hendricks leads the GAC in RBIs with 21, eight more than second place. Hendricks is hitting .367 with 11 hits, three homeruns (all grand slams) and eight runs scored.
Harding ranks seventh in the GAC with a 2.76 team ERA.
Kelly Beth Ernest leads the Lady Bisons with a 1.27 ERA. Ernest has a 1-1 record in five appearances and has recorded two saves. Freshman Hannah Johnson has a 1.93 ERA and has a 3-0 record.
