Henderson State went up against one of the top teams in the region and fell short as the Reddies lost to Central Oklahoma 6-3, Saturday in women's tennis action in Russellville, Ark.
Central Oklahoma, ranked sixth in the region, won four of the six singles matches to hold off the Reddies.
The match opened with doubles play as UCO won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
However, the Reddies claimed No. 1 doubles as
Annie Shannon and
Amanda Korinihona beat Kirtana Bhat and Emilie Semo 9-7. Shannon and Korinihona improved to 7-1 in doubles play.
Shannon ran her singles record to 8-0 on the year beating Alli Hodges who is ranked No. 6 at No. 1 singles, regionally. Shannon dropped the first set 6-3, before rallying to when the next two sets 7-6 (7-3) and 10-0.
Also recording a win in singles play was
Sydnee Parker at No. 4 singles.
Parker cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Anya Minakova to improve to 4-1 on the year.
The Reddies will next travel to Texarkana, Texas to face Texas A&M-Texarkana on March 4 at 10:30 a.m.
