Henderson State travels to Magnolia, Ark. for a four-game Great American Conference series against Southern Arkansas with the first-pitch of Friday's double-header set for 1 p.m. The two teams will finish the series with a twin bill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Reddies are coming off an impressive four game sweep of Arkansas-Monticello improving to 17-15 on the year and 8-12 in league play.
Henderson totaled 33 runs in the series against UAM while limiting the Cotton Blossoms to just 9 counters.
Ashlyn White leads Henderson with a .375 average after going 6-for-6 with three home runs and 11 RBI last weekend. The Co-GAC Player of the Week has a team best eight home runs along with 33 RBI. White has a .431 average in GAC play.
Courtney Warren is hitting .337 which includes 23 runs scored and seven doubles, while
Caroline Cullins has a .287 average with 20 runs scored and a team-best 11 stolen bases.
In the last five games, Cullins has gone 9-for-18 at the plate for a .500 average.
Michelle Sorensen and
Madison Calvert will handle the pitching duties for the Reddies.
Sorensen is 10-7 on the season with a 3.17 ERA. In 110 innings in the circle, the sophomore from Sherwood, Ark. has struck out 85 batters.
Calvert is 6-7 on the current campaign with a 5.50 ERA.
The Lady Muleriders are 23-2 overall this season and 15-2 in league play.
Southern Arkansas has one of the most explosive offenses in the country having a .357 team average which includes 43 home runs and 7.72 runs per game.
Brooke Goad leads the team with a GAC best .467 average to go along with 14 home runs and 28 RBI. Darian Harris is hitting .431 with six home runs and 32 RBI, while Taylor Guin has a .415 average.
Another SAU power-hitter that Henderson pitchers will have to contend with is Maddie Dow who has 10 home runs to go along with her 28 RBI and .361 average.
SAU also boasts the league's bests in team ERA (1.19) thanks mainly to Arkansas transfer Kimmy Beasley.
Beasley is 13-0 on the year with a 1.23 ERA. In 74 innings she has struck out 96 batters while walking just 12.
Kaylee Garner has equally been effective in the circle as she sports a 1.03 ERA posting a 10-2 record. Garner las limited opponents to just .126 hitting while striking out 86 batters in 67 innings of work.
