Reddie Softball Prepares for Matchup with Ouachita Baptist

Henderson State will take on Ouachita Baptist in a Great American Conference double-header on Tuesday evening, with first pitched set for 5 p.m. at Dee White Field.

The Reddies(18-18, 9-15 GAC) comes into the contest off a series loss(3-1) at Southern Arkansas last weekend, and look to improve upon their 9-4 home record this season.

HSU is led this season by Ashlyn White, who was awarded NFCA National Player of the week honors last Wednesday for her performance against Arkansas-Monticello.

On the season, White leads HSU with a .368 batting average, belting out 10 home runs and accumulating 37 RBI.

The junior from Longview, Texas holds an impressive .695 slugging percentage and has 35 hits on the year, tied for first with Courtney Warren who also has driven out 35 hits.

Warren is second on the team holding a .324 hitting percentage, and has plated 25 times to lead all Reddies.

Michelle Sorensen has been the go-to pitcher for HSU this season, holding an 11-8 record in the circle and compiling 92 strikeouts on the season.

Ouachita(7-22, 1-20 GAC) looks to rebound after a series loss at Arkansas-Monticello last weekend, and are led by Sarah Johnson who sports a .337 batting average.

Johnson also leads the Lady Tigers in hits this season with 29 including five doubles and two home runs.

From the circle, the Tigers use a rotation of three pitchers in Macy Nantz(4-8), Kelsey O'Brien(3-7), and Marissa Butler(0-7).

HSU leads the all-time series 33-24 over the Lady Tigers, winning the last contest the two schools played against each other in 2015 by a score of 5-2.
