Henderson State suffered a 5-3 loss to Harding in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tennis Championships Thursday in Bentonville, Ark.
Henderson fell behind 2-1 in doubles play with 
Sara Griffin and 
Mariah Bartlett winning at No. 2 doubles 8-1 for the Reddies.
Harding's Gabriella Alves and Brittany Smyser got past 
Sydnee Parker and 
Maddie McJunkins 8-5 to tie the match at 1-1.
In a battle of a pair of regionally ranked doubles teams, Laura Golubic and Piper Huey edged 
Annie Shannon and 
Amanda Korinihona 8-5 to put the Bisons on top 2-1.
The Reddies would try to rally in singles as Shannon recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Huey at No. 1 and Parker defeated Alves 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
Shannon finished the season 16-2 while Parker ends the year with a 14-3 record which includes an undefeated record in league play.
Harding would claim the match winning three singles matches.
Henderson finishes the season with a 10-10 record.
