ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State, fresh off of a convincing victory over previously unbeaten Southern Nazarene, takes to the floor again on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it faces Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference action at the Duke Wells Center. The Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia will be in attendance to take toy and cash donations for the annual Reddie Basketball Angel Tree Game. JA of Arkadelphia serves children from infants to age 18 and has many Christmas wishes to fulfill. Those planning on attending Saturday's game are encouraged to bring toys for FREE entry.
Last Time Out
The Reddies notched their first GAC win of the 2017-18 season on Thursday night by putting together a total team effort to defeat Southern Nazarene, 79-66. Henderson trailed 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, but used a 23-11 run in second period and a 17-5 run at the end of the third to seize the upper hand and ease to a comfortable win.
Pink Jones had a double-double to lead HSU with 18 points and 11 rebounds, as did
Hailey Estes, who finished with 15 points and 10 boards.
Haleigh Henson added 16 points, including two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and freshman
Karrington Whaley had a stellar game with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and seven rebounds. The win moved the Reddies to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in GAC play. The Reddies have now won two-straight games, with both wins coming this week.

Haleigh Henson leads Henderson in scoring so far this season with an average of 15 points per game (sixth in the GAC), leads the league in 3-pointers made per game, with 21 in six games (3.5 per game), and is 11th in the GAC is assets per game (2.8).

Scouting Oklahoma Baptist
- Oklahoma Baptist is 4-3 on the season and 1-2 in the GAC. They are led by head coach Casi Bays who is in her sixth season at the helm of the OKBU program (95-61 overall at the school). The Lady Bison lost on Thursday night to Ouachita Baptist 66-60 after shooting just 34 percent from the field and 5-for-25 from 3-point range.
- The Lady Bison are led by senior Tasha Edge, who averages 16.1 points (fourth in the GAC) and 9.3 rebounds per game (third in the GAC), as well as juniors Shaylan Coleman and McKenzie Cooper, who both rank in the top 15 in the league in scoring at 13.7 points per game for each.
- Their point guard, Autumn Avina, is the GAC leader in assists (37) and assists per game (5.3) and is shooting 92 percent at the free throw line (23-of-25 on the season). She also leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.9).
- Both Avina and Coleman are ball-hawking defenders and average over two steals per contest, 2.6 per game for Avina and 2.4 per game for Coleman.
- Cooper is a 3-point specialist who is 23-of-45 from beyond the arc on the season (51.1percent).
