The Henderson State softball team will travel to Bentonville, Ark. this weekend to take part in the prestigious 8-State Softball Classic beginning with a pair of games on Friday.
The Reddies will begin the event on Friday at 9 a.m. with a meeting against Fort Hays State (1-4). At 3 p.m. Henderson will match up against Missouri Southern (2-9). Both games will be played at Memorial Park.
On Saturday, Henderson will face Minnesota-Duluth (0-0) at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park. The final game of the event for the Reddies will be played at Bentonville High School's Tiger Athletic Complex as Henderson face Central Missouri (5-6) at 3 p.m.
The Reddies enter the weekend with a 2-6 record after losing four tough games last weekend at the D2 Challenge in Bentonville.
Bethany Allen leads the Reddie offense with a .357 average which includes a pair of doubles, a triple, home run and seven runs batted in.
Courtney Warren follows hitting .348 with a team best three doubles and a .609 slugging percentage, while
Keirsten Seahorn is hitting .333 with four runs driven in.
Michelle Sorensen and
Cayleigh Guthrie will be in the circle this weekend for Henderson.
Sorensen is 1-4 on the year with a 4.60 ERA. The junior from Sherwood, Ark. has struck out 25 batters in 31 1/3 innings of work.
Guthrie is 1-2 with a .374 ERA. The freshman from Joshua, Texas has pitched 21 2/3 innings and has totaled 10 punch-outs.
