Henderson State will begin Great American Conference play as the Reddies softball team hosts Oklahoma Baptist in a four-game series beginning Friday with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
Following Friday's double-header, the two teams will play a twin-bill on Saturday beginning at Noon.
The Reddies enter league play with a 6-6 overall record after winning four games last weekend at the 8-States Classic in Bentonville.
Offensively, Henderson has a team .281 batting average which includes a .418 slugging percentage.
Courtney Warren leads the Reddies hitting .378 with 5 doubles and 4 RBI, while
Alexis Morton posts a .360 average.
Keirsten Seahorn leads the team in runs batted in with 10 to go along with a .351 average and a .514 slugging percentage.
Michelle Sorensen is coming off a weekend where she earned GAC Pitcher of the Week honors. Sorensen is 4-4 on the year with a 3.02 ERA while striking out 46 batters in 50 innings of work.
Last week the junior from Sherwood, Ark. worked 19 1/3 innings, compiling a 0.47 earned run average allowing just one run on 10 total hits. She also struck out 21 batters with opponents having just a .152 average.
Cayleigh Guthrie will also be in the circle for the Reddies. The freshman from Joshua, Texas is 2-2 on the year with a 5.08 ERA.
Oklahoma Baptist is 3-1 on the year after winning a pair of games against Southwestern College and splitting a double-header against Hastings last weekend.
The Bison offense hit for a .351 average last weekend with Katie Reyes going 5-for-11 with a pair of doubles, home run and 5 RBI, while Madison Vaughan was 5-for-12 with a double, two home runs and four runs batted in.
Haylee Zimmerman is 2-0 on the season in the circle having a 1.40 ERA. In 10 innings of work, Zimmerman has struck out six batters.
