Reddies softball set for home face off with Southeastern Oklahoma

After playing 45 total innings last weekend in a 2-2 split with Arkansas Tech, a battle-tested Henderson State squad returns to Dee White Field for two double headers against Southeastern Oklahoma State, beginning at 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Series:
The Reddies have traditionally struggled against the Savage Storm and are just 8-22 in the all-time series between the two schools. SOSU swept Henderson in the regular season last year in Durant, Oklahoma, but the Reddies got the best of the Savage Storm when it mattered most, defeated them 7-3 in the first round of the Great American Conference tournament in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Henderson State Notes:
The Reddies enter the fourth weekend of the GAC season 11-13 overall and 5-6 in conference action. Henderson is coming off of a back-and-forth series with Arkansas Tech last weekend, which saw the two teams play 45 total innings in four games, including a record-breaking 19-inning contest on Sunday. Three of the four games against the Golden Suns went into extra innings, with the Reddies winning two of them in walk-off fashion.

After pitching two complete games and 29 combined innings in the circle, Henderson's Michelle Sorensen was named GAC Pitcher of the Week for her efforts. She struck out 33 batters, gave up two earned runs, and held Tech to a .129 batting average while registering a 0.72 ERA.

Lone senior Keirsten Seahorn continues to lead the Reddies' efforts at the plate. Seahorn leads the team in batting average (.333), hits (25), RBIs (17), and runs (12).

Alyssa Dixon played well for Henderson in the series against Tech, racking up seven hits in four games including a triple and the walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the 19th inning in game one.

As a team, the Reddies are batting .264 and are holding their opponents to a .222 average at the plate. Henderson has an OBP of .353 and have a team ERA of 2.63 — fourth-best in the GAC.

Southeastern Oklahoma Notes:
The Savage Storm are 11-9 overall and 5-5 in GAC play this season. They come to Arkadelphia following two losses last weekend to Southwestern Oklahoma State.

SOSU is led by Keeshia Thompson, who leads the team in batting average (.375) and slugging percentage (.589). In addition, the Savage Storm have six other players batting above .300 in their lineup and have a team slugging percentage of .458.

Their likely starter in the circle for game one is Emily Cudd, who carries a 9-4 record and a 3.56 ERA.
