Henderson State will hit the road for a four-game Great American Conference softball series this weekend as the Reddies travel to Searcy, Ark. to take on nationally-ranked Harding beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
Harding, 11-3 overall and 3-1 in the GAC is ranked No. 19 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II poll.
The Reddies, 9-7 overall and 3-1 in GAC play, has a team batting average of .301 led by
Courtney Warren who is hitting .400 with a GAC leading 9 doubles on the season.
Keirsten Seahorn has a robust .388 average which includes 6 doubles and 15 runs batted in.
In the circle,
Michelle Sorensen is 6-4 on the season with a 1.95 earned run average in 14 appearances this season. The junior from Sherwood, Ark. ranks fourth in the GAC in strikeouts with 61 while limiting opponents to .172 offensively.
Cayleigh Guthrie will also see action in the circle. The freshman from Joshua, Texas is 2-3 with a 3.28 ERA.
Harding, off to its best start in program history, has a .295 team batting average led by Autumn Humes who is hitting .432 with a team-best 14 runs batted in and three home runs.
Also hitting above .400 is Peyton Mills with a .415 average and 9 RBI.
Henderson will face two of the top pitchers in the league in Hannah Johnson and Humes.
Johnson enters with a 7-1 average while sporting a 0.83 earned run average, In 42 innings of work, Johnson has struck out 30 batters with opponents hitting .167.
Humes is 4-1 with a 2.17 ERA which includes 64 punch outs in 48 innings.
