Henderson State will travel to Ada, Okla. this weekend to face East Central in a four-game Great American Conference softball series beginning at noon Saturday.
The Reddies, 14-14 overall and 8-8 in the GAC, won three of four games from Southeastern Oklahoma last weekend. Henderson State has gone extra-innings in five of the last eight games.
Michelle Sorensen has led the Reddies in the circle as the junior from Sherwood, Ark. has won her last four games earning the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week.
In the past two weeks, Sorensen has recorded four complete game wins posting a 0.48 ERA. Three of the wins were extra-inning victories. In 44.0 innings, Sorensen struck out 52 batters while allowing just three earned runs on 15 hits. In the four contests, opponents hit for a .105 average.
Sydney Bonner has also pitched well for the Reddies having a 2-3 record and a 1.88 ERA. Bonner has lost a pair of one-run games to Southeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech the last two weeks.
Offensively the Reddies are hitting .266 collectively with
Keirsten Seahorn leading the team with a .329 average and 18 runs batted in. Last weekend against the Savage Storm, Seahorn was 3-for-5 while being intentionally walked nine times in the four-game series.
Courtney Warren follows with a .326 average including a team-high nine doubles.
The Tigers are 17-11 overall and 8-8 in the league after going 3-1 last weekend at Ouachita.Â
Madison Thompson led ECU against OBU with a 1.000 average, five hits and two RBIs in three games. Sophomore Ellanee Allison added a .600 average, three hits, one run and three RBIs.
