Red-Hot Henderson Seeks Seventh-Straight GAC Win Against Harding

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Following the rescheduling of the Battle of the Ravine matchup with rival Ouachita Baptist, the Henderson State women's basketball team turns its attention to defending Central Region champion Harding, as the Lady Bisons come to town on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. to face off with the Reddies in the Duke Wells Center.

Last Time Out
- Henderson State had four players in double-figures and shot 50 percent from the field on Saturday afternoon, as the Reddies ran away from Arkansas-Monticello 69-47 to stretch their GAC winning streak to a program-record six games. The Reddies took control in the second quarter, out-scoring the Blossoms 22-10 to take a 17-point halftime advantage. UAM never came any closer, as Henderson opened the fourth quarter on a 10-1 run to put the game out of reach.

- Torrie Thompson was the catalyst for HSU on the offensive end, finishing with 17 points after scoring 11 in the first half. Pink Jones, Haleigh Henson and Lani Snowden each added 11 points, with both Henson and Snowden hitting three 3-pointers, while Jones chipped in seven assists. Hailey Estes finished with eight points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the win, falling just one bucket short of what would have been her fourth-straight double-double.

Reddies Report
- Henderson State is on its best run of the last several seasons. The Reddies (10-4, 6-2) have won six straight GAC games for the first time in program history and have won nine of their last 10 contests overall. HSU is just a half-game behind Arkansas Tech for second place in the GAC standings behind only unbeaten Southwestern Oklahoma State.

- Both Pink Jones and Haleigh Henson rank in the top 10 of the GAC in scoring and assists per game. Jones, the Fayetteville native, averages 15.5 points and 3.5 assists per game, while Henson, from Fort Smith, Arkansas, scores 13.7 and dishes out three assists. Jones also ranks sixth in the league in steals per game (1.9) and Henson is second in the league in made 3-pointers (41).

- Hailey Estes had her streak of three consecutive double-doubles snapped in the win versus UAM, but still finished with eight points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Estes, from Conway, Arkansas, ranks second in the conference in rebounds per game (9.2) and also averages 10.9 points per game.

- Lani Snowden, percentage-wise, is the best 3-point shooter in the GAC at this point in the season (50 percent). The product from Van Buren, Arkansas, has hit on 15-of-30 attempts from long range this year, including going 3-for-3 on Saturday against the Blossoms.

- Bree Bossier ranks second in the GAC in field goal percentage (50.6 percent) for the season and has hit on 45-of-89 attempts so far this year. Bossier, from Fairfield, Texas, also ranks 18th in the league in rebounds per game (5.5).

- Houston-native Torrie Thompson came through with a big game against UAM, piling up 17 points, 11 of which came in the first half. Thompson is 21st in the GAC in scoring (11.1 points per game).

- Henderson State now has the No. 1 scoring defense in the GAC against league opponents, allowing just 63.1 points per game. The Reddies also wield the fourth-best scoring offense (73.6 points per game) which gives HSU the second-best scoring margin (plus 10.5) in the conference.

- The Reddies are now 12th nationally, and tops in the GAC, in 3-point percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 25.4 percent from beyond the arc this season. That number drops down to just 24 percent in GAC contests, which would rank second in all of NCAA DII. Opponents are just 62-for-244 from 3-point range this season against Henderson.

Scouting Harding
- The Lady Bisons are the reigning GAC and Central Region champions after making a Final Four run in 2016-17, but have struggled so far this season to a record of 6-11 overall and 2-7 in league play. Harding is led by head coach Tim Kirby, who has compiled a record of 247-122 in 13 seasons at the school.

- Harding's leading scorer is freshman Kellie Lampo, who averages 11.1 points per game. Junior Caroline Hogue, last season's Central Region Tournament MVP, averages 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, but has not played for the Lady Bisons since Dec.17.

- One of the strongest rebounding teams in the conference, Harding averages 45 boards per game, allows a GAC-best 30.8 to its opponents and has the best rebounding margin (plus 14.2) in the GAC, doubling the second-best team (Arkansas Tech, plus 6.7).

- The Lady Bisons are third in the GAC in field goal percentage and shoot just under 43 percent from the floor, but struggle to defend the 3-point line, where they rank last in the conference in 3-point percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot 37 percent from beyond the arc. Harding also struggles with turnovers and ranks last in the league in turnover margin (-6.67).

Last Season vs. Harding
- Harding won both matchups between the two schools last season after the Reddies took both matchups in 2015-16.

- In the first matchup in Arkadelphia, Henderson led by a point entering the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bisons out-scored the Reddies by 13 in the final period to pull away for a 76-64 win. HSU shot just 33 percent to Harding's 48.3 percent in the game and was led by Pink Jones, who finished with 16 points.

- Harding jumped on the Reddies from the get-go in the second meeting in Searcy, Arkansas, and led from wire-to-wire to claim an 84-58 victory. The Lady Bisons shot 51.6 percent and held Henderson to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field. Blu Jones notched a career-high 13 points for HSU.
