RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Four different Reddies got wins and Cassie Berrier earned a spot in the Flight 7 semifinals on Saturday in the first day of the Great American Conference Individual Tennis Championships at Arkansas Tech.
Berrier highlighted the day for Henderson, as she claimed a win in a nail-biting three-set match to advance to the semifinals on Sunday in Flight 7. Berrier defeated Jacqueline Charvet of Oklahoma Baptist 7-5, 0-6, 14-12 to advance to the semifinals on Sunday at 8 a.m.
Lauren Miller and Mikayla Braun also got wins on Saturday. Miller won 5-7, 7-5, 10-3 over Megan Bell of Arkansas Tech in round one of Flight 4, while Braun got a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory over Claire Phillips of Ouachita Baptist in Flight 6. Both players lost in the semifinal round. Miller plays again tomorrow in the consolation semifinals at 9:15 a.m.
Lorish Puluspene fell 6-1, 6-0 in the opening round of Flight 3, but rebounded to take an 8-1 win in the consolation bracket to clinch a spot in the consolation semifinals tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. Both Corbie Adams and Jaci Ammons fell in round one of Flight 7 but will play tomorrow in the consolation bracket at 10:15 a.m. All three of the Reddies' doubles tandems dropped matches in the opening round on Saturday and will play consolation bracket contests tomorrow evening at 5 p.m.
