Reddies Host Midwestern State in Final Non-Conference Game Saturday

LIVE VIDEO | LIVE STATS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- After a week-and-a-half long hiatus for Christmas break, Henderson State returns to action on Saturday when the Reddies square off with Midwestern State in their final non-conference game of the year at 2 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State won a barn-burner before Christmas when the Reddies outlasted Southeastern Oklahoma 94-92 in Durant, Oklahoma, on Dec. 18. HSU got 27 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocks from Pink Jones and hit a season-high 14 3-pointers in the big win.

- For her efforts, Pink Jones was named Great American Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career. Jones currently averages 17.6 points and 3.9 assists per game, which puts her in the Top-10 in the league in both categories. She scored the 1000th point of her career in the first quarter against SOSU. She is just the 13th player in program history to eclipse the 1000-point mark.

- The Reddies are now 4-1 in the GAC this year and one of just two teams with four conference wins before Christmas break. Henderson is in sole possession of second place in the league standings, just a half-game behind Southwestern Oklahoma State, and is ninth in the latest D2SIDA Central Region Poll.

- Saturday is just the third meeting all-time between Henderson State and Midwestern State and is the Reddies' final non-conference game of the 2018-19 season. The Mustangs have won the previous two matchups and lead the series 2-0. The last time the two schools met on the hardwood was in 2000-01.

The last time Henderson started a season 9-2 or better was in 2006-07 when the Reddies posted an 11-0 record out of the gates.

SCOUTING MIDWESTERN STATE
- Midwestern State comes into Saturday's game 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the Lone Star Conference. MSU, which is located in Wichita Falls, Texas, is led by head coach Noel Johnson, who is the school's all-time leader in wins with 139 entering this year.

- MSU is led by 6'4 sophomore center Hannah Reynolds, who averages 11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game. Senior guard Chelcie Kizart is shooting 44 percent from beyond the 3-point line this season.

- As a team, Midwestern is out-scoring opponents by 63 points this season in the fourth quarter -- an average of more than eight points per game. The Mustangs are holding their opponents to 34.8 percent shooting from the field this year.

- The Mustangs have not yet won a conference game, but have posted a win over the No. 21 team in the country, St. Mary's, who they beat 51-35 on Dec. 15.
