Henderson Hosts Harding in Regionally Ranked Showdown

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The early Great American Conference frontrunners are set to duel on Saturday when Henderson State faces off with Harding at 1 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

All fans who bring a toy for donation will receive FREE ENTRY to both contests on Saturday as a part of Henderson's annual Angel Tree game.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson (6-1, 2-0) is looking to make an early statement in the GAC on Saturday against Harding in a matchup of regionally ranked teams. The Reddies came in at No. 8 in the most recent D2SIDA Central Region Poll, while Harding checked in at No. 6. The top eight teams in the Central Region rankings at the end of the year will earn bids to the NCAA Tournament.

- HSU coasted past NAIA Wiley College 61-45 on Tuesday night in its home opener. Henderson committed 24 turnovers but held the Wildcats to just 21.3 percent shooting (13-for-61) in the game. The Reddies' first six games of the season came on the road.

- Hailey Estes leads the Reddies with 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The junior from Conway had a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in the 61-45 win over Wiley College on Tuesday night. Sophomore forward Karrington Whaley has carried the load down low for Henderson and averages 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game on 65.3 percent shooting from the field.

- The Reddies are third in the conference in team field goal percentage (44.8 percent) and third in field goal percentage defense (36.7 percent). HSU is also second in the league in blocked shots with 25 total and an average of 3.6 blocks per game.

- Saturday's contest is the 56th meeting all-time between Henderson State and Harding. The Lady Bisons lead what has been a close series 29-26. HSU won the first-ever matchup 89-54 in 1984-85. The teams split last season with the Reddies winning 79-64 in Arkadelphia and Harding holding on for a 64-62 win in Searcy in the final game of the regular season.

SCOUTING HARDING
- The Lady Bisons are 6-1 on the season under head coach Tim Kirby, which includes a 2-0 record in GAC play. They are currently ranked as the No. 6 team in the Central Region according to the latest D2SIDA poll. Harding's only loss this season came to defending national champion Central Missouri 63-51. HU led in that game 18-6 after the first quarter.

- Harding is led offensively by sophomore forward Kellie Lampo who averages 16.6 points per game this season. The Lady Bisons have two other formidable post players in sophomore Kennedy Cooper, who leads the team with 7.1 rebounds per game, as well as DI transfer Cheyenne Brown, who is scoring 11.9 points per game off of the bench.

- HU excels defensively and on the glass. The Lady Bisons are No. 1 in the GAC in scoring defense (53.1 points per game) and field goal percentage defense (32.4 percent), as well as rebounding offense (44.7 per game) and rebounding defense (33.7 per game).
