Henderson Finishes Oklahoma Road Trip at Southern Nazarene

Henderson State concludes its Oklahoma road trip as the Reddies take on Southern Nazarene in Bethany on Saturday with tip-off set for 1 p.m.

Henderson will be shooting for its 15th win of the season, the most since the Reddies were 15-11 in 2010-11.

The Reddies have the best scoring defense in the GAC, allowing just 64.5 points per game to its opponents, and is also tops in 3-point field goal defense (27.0 percent). The Reddies are third in field goal percentage defense (39 percent) and fourth in the GAC in scoring offense (71.3 points per game).

Pink Jones continues to lead the Reddies in scoring and ranks third in the GAC averaging 16.5 points per game. Jones has scored in double-figures in all but one game this season and averages 17.1 points against GAC foes.

Haleigh Henson is scoring 13.3 points per game and is second in the conference in 3-pointers this season with 54. Henson needs just three more 3-pointers to break the GAC record for 3-pointers made in a career held by Anissa Pounds of Arkansas Tech who had 268 trifectas.

Hailey Estes is second in the league in rebounding with an average of 8.7 boards per game and leads the GAC in defensive rebounding (7.1 defensive rebounds per game). She has pulled down 10 or more rebounds in half of this season's contests and has scored in double figures nine times.

Blu Jones has stepped it up for the Reddies as of late and is13-for-23 from the floor in Henderson's last three contests while averaging 12 points in those games. Her 36 points in the last three games is the most she has scored in three straight games in her career.

Bree Bossier has played well for the Reddies having scored double-figures in the last four contests averaging 13.8 points and 12 rebounds per game in those contests. Bossier totaled 17 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks against SWOSU, and followed it up with 14 points and 13 rebounds against NWOSU.
On Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist, Bossier scored 14 points and had 9 boards. In the last four games she is shooting 64 percent from the field having made 23-of-36 attempts.

The Crimson Storm enter Saturday's contest 7-11 overall and 5-9 in GAC action following a 69-68 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Thursday.

Southern Nazarene is led by junior guard Adrienne Berry who is scoring 15.1 points per game. Berry leads the team in 3-point field goal having made 45-of-140 attempts for a shooting percentage of 32.1 percent. Berry scored 26 points in the first game against the Reddies, hitting on 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Alexus Jones follows scoring 9.4 points per contest while averaging 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Jones scored 13 points and grabbed 9 boards on Nov. 30 against the Reddies.

SNU averages 66.1 points offensively, while allowing 68.9 points per contest. The Crimson Storm is second field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot just 36.9 percent from the field.

Henderson State leads the all-time series over Southern Nazarene with a 7-4 advantage following an 79-66 win earlier this year in Arkadelphia. The Reddies have won six of the last seven games against the Crimson Storm.

Saturday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Cyrus Wittig handling the play-by-play and Shawn Jones and David Salley providing color commentary.   

The Domino's pregame show will air 12:45 p.m. with the women's game set for 1 p.m.
