ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State's No. 2 doubles team took its match with Angelo State to a tiebreaker and its No. 3 team kept things close, but the Rams proved to be too much as they defeated the Reddies 9-0 on Saturday morning at the Ward Tennis Center.
Sydnee Parker and
Mariah Bartlett, the No. 2 double teams for Henderson, found itself in the closest contest of the day and went wire-to-wire with Angelo State's Zoe Gubbels and Lucie Maitrot. Tied at 8-8, the match went to a tiebreaker, where the Rams prevailed 7-5 to take it 9-8. ASU jumped on the Reddies quickly in the other two doubles matches and put Henderson in a 3-0 hole heading into singles play.
In the individual matches, the Reddies fought, but could never find their footing, as the Rams took all six matches in straight-sets to win it 9-0.
The Reddies return to action on March 3 against Ouachita Baptist at 10 a.m. in the Ward Tennis Center.
